I never really picked up guitar with the intention of learning songs – I’d always wanted to make my own. Of course the reality is that learning songs is a great way to learn the guitar, and it’s fun. My favorite musician, hands down, is John Frusciante (guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but also has a great solo discography), and he’s got so many great guitar songs to take inspiration from.
One of his most beautiful guitar-driven tracks is Ramparts off the Album “To Record Only Water for Ten Days”:
